Project 4: Bezold Effect

Prompt: Create an original pattern by drawing, using photographs, or copyright free images. The pattern must include one warm color, one cool color, a pair of analogous colors, a pair of complementary colors, a highly saturated color, a muted color, a light value color or white, and a dark value color or black. Must connect to the theme of the previous Color Bridge Project.

This project involved several steps after creating the initial pattern. I have over 30 files with variations of the bezold designs. Project 4 was very rigorous and I had to keep up with Project 3 as well. As I developed my theme for Project 3, I saved some photos that felt out of place in the composition to use in Project 4. The focal diamond shape was created by using a photo of the tip of The Broad Museum in Los Angeles and duplicating it. At first, I was unsure of continuing with this pattern, but Professor Korol encouraged me to progress.

I found that is extremely difficult to include the mandatory colors in the pattern. I decided to be more conservative in color use; I only used reds blues and purples.

The warm colors are the reds. The cool colors are the blues. The analogous colors are the purples. The complementary colors are the red and blue. The red is highly saturated while the light blue is very muted.
